The Southwestern CT Agency on Aging (SWCAA) is a vital resource for older adults and individuals with disabilities in Southwestern Connecticut. The Agency helps people navigate complex systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, and other state and federal benefit programs, while also connecting them to a wide range of community-based services. These services may include home-delivered meals, senior and adult day centers, home care support, and counseling to address the many challenges associated with aging and disability. SWCAA plays an essential role in helping individuals maximize their independence and continue living safely in their own homes.

Since its founding in 1974, SWCAA has continually evolved to meet the needs of the community. What began as a federally sponsored nutrition initiative has grown into a full-service Area Agency on Aging, designated under the Older Americans Act. The dedication of our experienced social service professionals—supported by a committed volunteer Board of Directors and Advisory Council—reflects our ongoing commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities. Through advocacy, grant-making, and strong partnerships, SWCAA strengthens the region’s aging network and supports the resilience and well-being of the community. Our high-quality care management ensures that residents are fully informed of their options and empowered to live in the least restrictive environment of their choice.

Whether you are seeking support for a loved one, need guidance navigating social service options, or are interested in volunteering to make a difference in your community, SWCAA is here to help.
