Connecticut Legal Services mission is to provide access to justice and protect the critical civil legal rights of low-income individuals and families through representation, systemic advocacy, advice, collaboration, and education. We serve low-income older adults throughout southwestern Connecticut with advocacy on issues including eviction, access to health and long-term care, consumer fraud and access to eligible benefits.

The Consumer Law Project for Elders offers free legal assistance to Connecticut residents age 60 and older who are dealing with consumer-related issues. This includes problems such as debt collection, identity theft, contract disputes, and predatory lending. Services are provided through a convenient statewide telephone hotline.

The Center for Medicare Advocacy is a respected national organization that helps older adults and people with disabilities understand and secure the Medicare coverage they are entitled to. CMA provides legal assistance, advocacy, and education on issues such as Medicare denials, appeals, home health care, skilled nursing facility coverage, and other Medicare-related rights.

The Connecticut Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) advocates for the rights, safety, and well-being of residents in nursing homes, residential care homes, and assisted living communities across the state. Acting solely on behalf of residents and in strict confidentiality, the program investigates concerns, helps resolve problems, educates residents and families about their rights, and empowers them to communicate effectively with facility staff. LTCOP also provides information on long-term care services, monitors state and federal regulations, recommends improvements, and represents residents’ interests before government agencies.
